Not only are we a creative agency, but did you know we’re also coffee connoisseurs? At Pound & Grain, coffee fuels our hustle; so we thought the best holiday gift would be something that helps fuel our client’s hustle. Cue Pound & Grain’s custom 404 Coffee. Yup, we worked with Elysian Coffee Roasters and the Perez family of Finca La Soledad in Guatemala, to create a chocolaty coffee that’s perfect for the holidays.
We didn’t really know anything about coffee, just that we loved it and couldn’t make it through a day without it. Here's what we learned.
Once the coffee bean, aka fruit, is ripe it's picked off the tree.
The fruit is removed from the coffee cherries and the green bean is placed into fermentation tanks.
The green coffee is then washed, dried in the sun, sorted, and shipped to countries around the world.
Coffee roasters, like our friends at Elysian, roast the green coffee in 30 pound batches for 10 to 12 minutes.
After roasting, the coffee bean is cooled and then hand packed for retail.
2 cups = 30g coffee beans X 480g of water
4 cups = 60g coffee beans X 960g of water
6 cups = 90g coffee beans X 1,440g of water
Break out the ol' coffee grinder, put on some R&B and get to grind'n. When it's about as coarse as table salt, it's ready for your French Press or coffee maker.
It’s time to heat things up. Slowly pour boiling water over the coffee grounds in the French Press for about one minute, stir, and plunge. If a French Press isn’t your thing, add your water to a coffee maker and press start.

It wouldn’t be the holidays at Pound & Grain if we didn’t have some spiced (ahem - spiked) coffee. Hustle Fuel is a great way to enjoy our custom 404 beans.
